To Affirm Yourself, Start with Your Body

An important part of affirming yourself is to respect your body as the gateway to the soul.  When we treat our bodies as the miracles they are - vehicles to move around on this Earth and accomplish our purpose - we naturally want to give our bodies the nourishment and movement they need.

Because I found people cannot be as creative and productive and fulfilled as they desire if they ignore their bodies, I decided to further my education on nutrition and enrolled at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, now accredited by Teachers College at Columbia University.  I am working on my certification as a holistic health counselor.  I added a division to my enterprise called, Nourish & Flourish, Int'l., which educates and motivates people about healthy choices of diet and exercise.  My sister Cameron and my son David and I became Certified Team Leaders with Dr. Strand's Healthy for Life.

Through educational seminars, school and library programs, retreats, speeches or private counseling, we work with people who want to be healthy, feel great, and who want to move in the direction of their dreams.

As an art teacher, museum art education curator and professor of art and communication, my ultimate aim was always to help my students see the value of their original ideas.  Successfully expressing themselves raised their self-esteem.

I find I now obtain the same rewards from helping people reclaim their self-esteem through taking control of their lives, re-shaping their bodies, managing their weight, finding movement which gives them joy, and designing the life style they want. Before I created paintings on canvas, now I help people see their whole lives as canvases on which to paint their dreams.
