CREATIVE LEADERSHIP
ON THE AIR AND IN THE AIR – SKY RADIO

You may listen to the 3-minute interview here.

I was interviewed for the in-flight radio program “Best Speakers in America” airing worldwide on American and Northwest Airlines in November. I’m very excited that it was broadcast on 30,000 worldwide flights to 5.2 million passengers in 2002. My topic is “Creative Leadership” and the interviewers encouraged me to go ahead and tell my personal story as a way of explaining what qualities leaders need to get where they want to go.

Stories are so powerful. I told about the challenges I faced when I tried to fulfill a youthful dream of exhibiting in Paris. When I was blocked at the train station from taking my works to Paris, there was no way I would be stopped. I found alternative paths. I hit problem after problem – including losing my wallet and running out of gas – but I found a way around every obstacle. These qualities I exhibited on that journey are the same qualities that successful business leaders need today – having a strong vision, the creativity to find alternatives if your plan is thwarted, and the undying perseverance to make sure you arrive at your destination.

This story, “How I Got My Paintings to Paris Despite Stupid Bureaucrats” was just published in The Princess Principle: Women Helping Women Discovery Their Royal Spirit. It is also available on video and CD.
